Studio Botanico is the first space in Italy that is entirely dedicated to teaching bonsai. It was established in 1986, by Salvatore Liporace, with the intention of offering bonsai lovers the possibility of increasing their technical and cultural knowledge about this splendid form of art.
During the course of the years Liporace has sought the collaboration of esteemed professional Japanese bonsai artists in order to extend the didactic programme of the School, giving the students the opportunity of working with widely renowned masters.
Since 1990, thanks to the teachings of master Kimura, whose works he appreciates immensely, Salvatore Liporace has succeeded in giving the school the innovative characteristics that distinguish it, and which make it a point of reference for those who wish to improve their preparation in bonsai, transcending into the world of art.
The students, who come from all over Europe, are guided through a course that passes through technical preparation up to reach artistic research, and they are taught to exalt their creative and imaginative attitudes.
In fact, Salvatore Liporace considers the School of Studio Botanico like a training ground, where one can train to extend beyond the barriers of conformism, and to move in the silent landscapes of the mind that enclose our vision of nature, that we may draw upon when we are faced with a tree.
A way of experimenting the art of bonsai, through the paths of the mind. It is a difficult school where Salvatore Liporace teaches how to work with sensations and emotions, where one learns to confront oneself, to experiment, to discover new ways of art and bonsai.
A school in which one learns a careful and deep preparation, that touches the mind more than the matter.
The more motivated students are also prepared to work in national and international environments, as demonstrators and speakers. In fact, many of them have obtained important acknowledgements world-wide.
Several members of the school took part in EBA New Talent Contest.
